Location
Within close walking distance, the village of Pera offers an authentic Portuguese village experience — narrow streets, traditional buildings, small restaurants, cafés, mini-supermarkets, a market, ATM and pharmacy.
The nearby town of Armação de Pera is approximately 3km away. Stroll the golden sandy beach or relax in restaurants and bars watching the local fishermen. Albufeira lies less than 10km away, and the Algarve Shopping Centre — multiplex cinema, designer shops and restaurants — is just 5km from the door.
Beaches
The Algarve has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world — many of them blue flag designated, and many within a short drive.

The nearest beach to the villa — a long sandy beach that seems to go on for miles, with outdoor cafés, shops, restaurants and a promenade.

Wooden walkways through sand dunes lead to Salgados Lagoon — a stop for migrating birds. Surfers and bodyboarders love the regular waves.

Cliff-free and easily accessible. Fine, soft sand and clean, safe waters make this a favourite for families with young children.
Golf
The Algarve is home to more than 30 golf courses, all within reasonable driving distance. The main season runs autumn to late spring — even winter is mild and sunny. Perfect golf weather.

A links course with beautiful sea views. Relatively short, but an abundance of lakes makes accuracy vital.

Constructed in 2008, the course has matured quickly and is highly rated. Quite hilly — take a buggy.

Sister course to Faldo — a much easier walk and more playable for the high handicapper. Very scenic and in great condition.
Things to do

Dolphin, seal and sea lion shows, an aquarium with sharks, a 4D cinema, fairground attractions and swimming pools. A fantastic family day out in nearby Guia.

Vineyard at Quinta do Miradouro. Guided tours, tastings, stunning views over the vines and coastline.

Discover the true Algarve on a guided quad bike tour along scenic trails — a fabulous family activity for ages 8 and up.
Eating out
Portugal is a seafaring nation and it shows on the plate — bacalhau (cod), grilled sardines, octopus, squid, prawns and lobster all feature heavily. Spices from former colonial possessions add piri piri, cinnamon, vanilla and saffron to the mix.
A short walk from the villa and you'll find small restaurants and bars hidden in the narrow streets of old town Pera. The nearby town of Armação de Pera has plenty more — traditional Portuguese, plus Chinese, Indian, Italian and English. Restaurants along the seafront serve local, freshly caught fish.
For best value, head a few miles inland away from tourist areas. If a restaurant's busy with locals, you're onto a winner. At lunchtime, do what the locals do and order the Prato do Dia — you won't go wrong, and a glass of Portuguese wine or beer is usually thrown in.
